Raspberry/debian register the hostname in windows dns

If you have a raspberry and you want it to register on a dynamic DNS like windows AD one, just do that:

edit /etc/dchp/dhclient.conf

find this line:
#send host-name "andare.fugue.com";

and change it to
send host-name "fqdnhostname";

WSUS on Windows 2012

Suddenly one morning you decide to update your WSUS W2012 box and after the restart nothing works anymore....

Uhmmmm ...what could be?

Error log say:
Event description: MSSQL$MICROSOFT##WID
event ID: 18456
Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE'. Reason: Failed to open the explicitly specified database 'SUSDB'. [CLIENT: ]


So after googling I found that the updates KB3148812 superseeded by KB3159706 block the logon to the db.


So folks uninstall it and restart the machine an all go well again.

Oggi ho pregato dopo aver visto le immagini dell'attentato a Bruxelles. Neanche la caduta delle Torri Gemelle mi aveva fatto questo effetto, ricordo che all'epoca era così incredibile che sembrava di vivere un incubo.

Version 11.03 of Adobe reader do not open normally outlook to attach the viewed file as attachment showing this error message.

The solution is to copy the file from another pc with same operating system. When done another message will appear showing that is missing msvcR100.dll

So at the end copy these files in c:\windows\system32

- msvcP100.dll

- msvcR100.dll

start and reopen Adobe.

I like to post this two interesting articles about the type of Virtual nic better to use in windows 2008 and 2012 on a virtualized enviroment on vmware:

On the second part of article became clear that is better to use VMXNet3 nic on W2012 servers.

Internet Explorer Group Policy Preference

Dalla versione 10 di Internet Explorer non è più possibile usare le group policy standard di windows 2008 per modificare i settaggi di internet explorer.

Per poterlo fare è necessario usare le group policy preferences che però devono essere editate con un domain controller windows 2012 o superiore.

Altrimenti è possibile utilizzare un client windows 8 con gli administrative tools e diritti di domain administrator.

L'implementazione delle group policy è abbastanza semplice e funzionale anche perchè può essere finemente distribuita con il Targeting.

Purtroppo però le policy di default contengono dei settaggi base che sono abbastanza fastidiosi per gli utenti, in primis il pop up che chiede il wizard di connessione, poi il popup che avvisa l'abbandono di connessioni protette e poi quello che avvisa l'utilizzo di una connessione protetta nel caso per esempio si passi a https://www.google.it.

Per eliminare quesi messaggi lascio questi spunti per delle group policy mirate.

Qui sotto l'ultimo messaggio che è stato piuttosto difficile da eliminare e il settaggio da modificare nella group policy preference

Gli altri settaggi da ABILITARE sono:
